Cabbages & Condoms
Somebody has been creative with the signs in this Restaurant/Hotel. Maybe nice to have a walk in the garden, but for cheap charlies probably a little bit too expensive however. Not bad if you want to enjoy some peace and sleep well, but who is going to Pattaya for sleeping?...:-)

Nong Nooch
Some days there is no music or no alcohol in the city that never sleeps. An excellent day to do something different and take some serious pictures to show your mom about what is going on in Pattaya...:-)))
In this case, a visit to Nong Nooch tropical garden isn't a bad idea.
Your family will be happy to know everything is okay with you, when they see the photos of you with monkeys and elephants, between all those beautiful flowers.
On Wednesday Morning at Nong Nooch Gardens in Jomtien, Khun Prachar, the Governor of Chonburi Province was guest of honor at a World Record Attempt organized by the RMP Infotec Company from India who are holding a 4 day conference in Pattaya and Bangkok at this time. Nearly 2,500 delegates are attending the conference which is supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. On Wednesday Morning the delegates lined up to create the longest ever painting which measures 1,010 meters in length and used over 200 liters of Acrylic Paint. An adjudicator from the Guinness Book of World Records came to Thailand to oversee the record Attempt and confirmed the record was achieved. The painting will now be auctioned off and the money raised will go to a charity called RAKSHA, a children’s charity in India.

Mermaids in Pattaya
Yes, mermaids exist. They can be found in Wet & Wild agogo, until recently called "blue lagoon".
No ping pong balls to throw here, you could try to throw a fish into the water to see a mermaid come and pick it up, but cash money works better if you really want to see one...;-)
Not to be confused with Blue Lagoon II, or the "real" watersports center, called blue lagoon as well.
A good and up-to-date agogo list can be found here.

Make-up: white is sexy, brown is ugly
There is that make-up thing I don't get with Thai women; they will put white powder on their face until they look like a ghost, or just as white as the guys from Kiss.
White is still beautiful to them, and trying to convince them from the opposite has no effect at all, as another characteristic from Thai ladies is that they don't listen so well, as some might expect... :-)
Yes, most of them can be sweet, caring, ... whatever. But don't try to tell them that their natural brown skin looks far better then the ugly, white ghostpowder.
There are exceptions, of course. But not too many.
The effects of the white powder may even turn out dramatic on pictures taken with a flash.
So be it. Anyway, after a shower, they will look nice and Thai again.
And try to take pictures without a flash... :-)

Secrets
If marketing is important in Pattaya disneyland, Secrets nightclub has done a good job.
They use the right girl for their advertisement if you ask me, and they also seem to know that Youtube has become an important channel to distribute some little, funny movies.
Have some girls dancing, mix some music, and that's it. If this bar is as good as it promises to be, is something you have to decide for yourself. Pattaya is changing all the time, and a good bar this month, can easily become a bad one next month, or vice versa. Currently, Happy agogo, coyotees, beach club, Angel Witch ... are among the most popular but in the end, you have to check it yourself. Some like coffee with milk, some like it with sugar, and some don't like coffee at all...:-)

Farangs in Thailand
This joke from www.amuzingthaicartoons.com will be understood very well by everybody who stays in the land of smile for a longer period.
One of the reasons why I don't have a motorbike in Thailand, like many other farangs (strangers), is very simple: If you don't have a helmit, you'll have to pay the first policeman you encounter as displayed in this cartoon, farang fines are a lot higher, and if you don't want to spoil one of your days waiting in a police office, I recommend to pay cash, and just forget about it.
Those relative small fines are still okay, but you don't want to think about accidents, as it will be always your fault, true or not, 'cause you're the farang.
We would call this corruption or discrimination in the West, in Thailand they call it logic. Just try to avoid these situations, and keep smiling... :-)

Club Blu
One of the new bars opened in Pattaya this month is Club Blu.
Clu Blu can be found on the corner of Soi LK Metro and Soi Buakhao. Nice coyotegirls are dancing in blue lights, no walls, only windows. Upstairs are some private rooms.
Music is not too pushy, not too loud.
Many glass, and dancing girls that can be seen from the street... looks like this is the new recipe in town if you want to start a new bar.

Hello sexy man, how are you?
Isn't she cute?
Well, before you're getting too close with a girl in Pattaya, you should always keep in mind that most sexy looking girls in Pattaya, are - in many cases - not really girls... This is lovely Emma, a lady in this life, a man in a previous life.
If you doubt what gender your partner belongs to, before going to your room, it's always a good idea to have a look around at your friends at the bar. Maybe you see grinning faces because they know more then you do, or someone spitting out his beer all of a sudden, because he can't hide the secret anymore.
Some men however, like to go with a ladyboy because ... they know what a man feels...
A place to see some of the most sexy ladyboys has always been (and still is) Jenny Star Bar in Walking street.
You'll find it on the right side coming from the beach road, after Lucifer Disco or Polo Entertainment, and before Marine Disco or Living Dolls Agogo
I will mostly take a seat on the other side of the street however, it's safer and I have a good view... ;-)

Shops and humor
Anyone who went to Pattaya, will remember the shops where you can buy all those funny t-shirts with uhmmm... let's say sometimes really simple & stupid humor, like "I'm a sex instructor, first lesson free" etc.
I would recommend to all feminists to close your eyes, turn your head for a while, and keep walking... :-)
The only one I ever bought is this one, as it can be interpreted like: "I go to Pattaya, and if you don't like it, well... i don't care at all"
If you want the same or have a look at the others like "wife for sale..., I fuck on the first date, ..." etc, you won't have to look too long for it, but you can find it in the Night market for sure, or in the shops at the beachroad, near walking street, where you'll find a little shop only selling this kind of stuff...

No Sex on Valentine
Thai police was doing some extra surveillance, to make sure teenagers would not have sex. This may sound funny, especially if you visited places like Pattaya or Phuket as a tourist, but it's really not a joke.
Thailand's moral guardians took action after an Assumption University poll showed 27 percent of 2,400 Bangkok teenagers surveyed said they might have sex on Wednesday.
Premarital sex is something they are not allowed to do until they turn 18.
There is a simple solution however; Next year, as a thai boy, put on a farang mask, as a thai girl, dress like a bargirl, and you can have "valentine" as much as you want. Or maybe, just close the door and stay out of the park, there are mosquitos ...:-)

Valentine
Very busy day for all the bargirls in Pattaya today.
They are a little bit more aggressive in trying to catch a man, and if they got one (or two or three) already, it will be important to get some extra money out of the walking ATM-machine.
On the other hand, as a farang, you'll get some more attention if you buy the right flowers, which means first of all a bigger bouquet then what the other girls in the same bar received from their sponsors.
And if you don't stay in Pattaya, but still want to do something special for a girl you know there, you could pay a visit to Pattayaflorist.com for example...

Medical services
Pattaya has some excellent medical services. These professional nurses from soi 6, tg bar will take care of you, if necessary 24h, 7 days a week.
specialties include treating problems like a burnout, psychological side effects you might have when you stayed too long with nagging, boring colleagues, jealous neighbours, tiredness, sadness, loneliness, or just any kind of stress.
These nurses will even accompany you to your room, if you need some rehabilition or extra treatment. Even if you're on heavy medication, blue pills for example, there is a good chance you won't need it anymore, as they get everything up and running, the natural way :-)
For more serious problems however, there is still Pattaya Memorial Hospital or the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

Gambling
Wherever you go, you'll notice the lottery tickets they are selling in all major cities in Thailand.
The state run lottery is drawn twice a month.
As a general rule, gambling in Thailand is illegal.
However it is in the nature of most people in the SE Asia region to gamble and Thailand is no exception. Just about anything can be used as an opportunity to bet. There are transboundary lotteries, horse races, football matches, illegal bookmaking at the races, boxing matches, cockfights and fish fights. A recent report in the Bangkok Post newspaper stated that "Each year, the gambling world in Thailand turns over 320 million Baht. Around 110 million of this goes to gambling dens, 92 million goes to underground lotteries, 51 million goes on football bets and about 38 million to the state-run lottery"
Gambling is a major source of income for the black economy, including drug trafficking, tax evasion, illicit arms trade, prostitution and illegal logging to mention a few.
There are moves to legalise gambling to increase the state revenue, promote tourism, create new businesses and jobs, and decrease the amount of illegal cash in circulation.
But if you ask me, without gambling there is no life in Thailand, or at least, not the way it should be. If you have a thai girlfriend or wife, you know what I'm talking about.
Poker for example, is one the most favourite time spendings, and if you tried for yourself, yeah, why not? It's fun!
As long as it is a daily break from all the stress, there is certainly no problem with it!

Pattaya, smoking ban
Pattaya is a nice city that has a lot more to offer than the famous nightlife, as you could just come here for shopping, the beach, excursions, golf, a relaxed stay at the swimming pool of your hotel, or whatever.
And yes, there are still girls who miss a little bit clothing, screaming at every man: "Hello, handsome man!", "Come inside, please" or simply ask if you want boom boom.
But the rough side of Pattaya has disappeared. If you are a preacher, I still wouldn't recommend it, but if you're coming as a couple, even with children, you could well have a drink at any bar.
And if you're a man coming alone, well,... it could be something like Disneyland for adults.
Don't expect any rough stories or pictures here.
Today there is one thing everybody is talking about, as strict smoking bans are enforced in all bars.
You could see the no-smoking signs already, with the 2000 baht as fine. Bar owners will have to pay 20000 baht.
Well, let's see how it works out. Maybe some bars will be able to find some ways to avoid the smoking ban...
And to all smokers, enjoy your last puff!
